Background Info

With our corporate name, you might expect LifeStyle Homes to be all about style. Sure, our homes are good looking on the outside, but we believe it’s what’s inside that defines us as a home building company and distinguishes the homes we build.

Since the beginning, we have been guided by the genius of our founding partners, John Luhn and Larry Hufford, who dedicated themmselves to providing the highest possible value to our customers, for instance not wasting a single square foot of living space in a LifeStyle Home. Weeks of intensive effort go into developing each of our design plans. We test countless alternatives for the smallest details before we commit to building a new plan. Then we commence the real learning process, finding important construction improvements ourselves and gathering  valuable feedback from our priceless homeowners.

Times have changed, and LifeStyle Homes has grown, adding team members, developing new communities, creating better home designs, and helping hundreds of homeowners achieve The American Dream. What hasn’t changed are the components of the original vision that started the business back in 1984:

Sadly, we have lost John Luhn, but he is with us every day in the person of Jake Luhn, his son. Together, Jake and Larry led us to explore energy efficiency as a way to serve our customers better, creating the close connection we enjoy with the Florida Solar Energy Center, in Cocoa. It has been the knowledge and dedication of the building scientists at FSEC which has led us to launch our SunSmart Energy Initiative. Now, LifeStyle SunSmart (sm) homes save their owners at least 60 percent on their monthly energy bills, provide greatly improved indoor air quality for healthful living, help cut down on harmful greenhouse gas emissions and lessen our dependence on foreign oil.

But that’s not all. With our brand new SunSmartPV(sm) homes, we are delivering Net-Zero energy performance. These remarkable homes generate as much electricity as they consume by using roof-mounted photovoltaic panels to capture the free power of the sun. SunSmartPV(SM) homes deliver a Net-Zero energy bill over a year’s time for their owners. Just think of it! Free electricity . . . For life!

It was our quest to build affordable energy efficient homes that led the producers of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition to choose LifeStyle Homes for this project. We are very grateful to them for asking us to do this. More than anything, we are grateful to them for giving us this opportunity to express our respect for the wonderful family that will be receiving this home.
